What’s on Wednesday is a mid-week, fellowship-based program designed to support opportunities for personal, spiritual and Church growth. It is our hope that by providing a warm and welcoming dinner, along with childcare and programming for all ages, that families, individuals, committees and small groups will be better supported in their journey towards discipleship.
Every
year since 1985, the people of Jarrettown have gathered at Harvey Cedars
Bible Conference in Long Beach Island, New Jersey, for the annual church
retreat. This usually takes place during the first weekend of March. The
weekend is filled with opportunities for spiritual growth, fun and fellowship
with your church family. Activities are offered simultaneously for children,
youth and adults. The retreat committee secures professional retreat leaders
for each age group's program.
Every
September Jarrettown families gather for the annual
picnic. With a multitude of activities such as a scavenger hunt, peanut scramble,
water balloon toss, volleyball, basketball, baseball, face painting, chili
cook-off, dessert contest, and singing, and a multitude of delicious food
such as grilled chicken and hot dogs along with salads and drinks, a wonderful
time is had by all.

Vacation
Bible School is a fun, exciting and spirit-filled time for children of all ages! This is an opportunity for the children of J.U.M.C., Emmanuel United
Methodist Church in Philadelphia and the community to gather together to
learn more about Jesus' love for us. The children open & close their day with song, engage in exploration, creative crafts, mission projents, and enjoy sensational snacks.
Each
year a different theme helps children experience God's love. Most recently, we visited Lava Lava Island, where God's love flows. We've taken a Serengeti Trek, where Kids are Wild about God; had a grande Fiesta: where Kids are Fired Up about Jesus; and this past year we traveled to Avalanche Ranch: for a Wild Ride therough God's Word.
The busy week is attended bya multitude of children from the church and local community. The week wraps up with an Open House, where the kids get to show their parents all the exciting activities they participated in throughout the week.
A
separate program runs at the same time for 5th-6th grade Explorers.
Youth & Adult Volunteers who run the program have as much fun as the kids who are served by the adventure (If not more!)
With 1,018,218 members worldwide, the United Methodist Women is the largest and strongest women's organization in the world. The UMW are committed to know God and experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative and supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. Here at Jarrettown church there are four circles made up of women of all ages. The meeting days and times vary from circle to circle. There are both day and evening groups.
Each circle has a particular mission project which is their focus. Additionally,
the circles work together collecting clothing for Neighborhood Services, cooking
for Aid For Friends and participating in the Bazaar and Craft Show held in
alternating years at Jarrettown.
