Prayers & Relief for Haiti

You've seen the pictures and heard the reports from Haiti.  The devastation is overwhelming.  One can't help but feel terrible for those living in Haiti.  So many lives lost; many who are still trapped under buildings; no infrastructure to take care of the injured; no clean water; and the list goes on and on. In addtion to that there's the difficulty of getting necessary supplies (water, food, medicine) in and setting up hosptials.  But on the other side, there are miraculous stories that arise every day.  So we know God is working overtime in Haiti.  He is listening to the prayers of the world that are being lifted up for Haiti.  I'm sure you have been praying and will continue to pray for Haiti.     In addition to your prayers, there are opportunities to give to the relief efforts.

1. Starting this Sunday, we will be taking donations for Haiti.  Checks should be made payable to "Jarrettown UMC" with "Haiti disaster" in the memo line.  100% will go to help the efforts in Haiti.    [Our February Mission of the Month will be Haiti]

2. UMCOR Sager Brown is coordinating a shipment of health kits to provide individuals with basic necessities. Instructions for assembling and shipping health kits are available at http://new.gbgm-umc.org/umcor/getconnected/supplies/health-kit/.

Most importantly, PRAY for all those who are affected by this crisis and for the many emergency workers.
